Ken Block - Gymkhana 2 - Motec

Ken Block's 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI also known as Gymkhana 2 starred in Gymkhana The Infomercial, was tuned using a Motec M600, Motec Power Distribution Module (PDM), Motec Standalone Knock Module (SKM), Motec Subaru Diff Controller 3 (SDC3) and Motec Digital Sport Dash. William Knose was responsible for tuning the Motec M600, Motec PDM and Motec SKM. In order to tune the Motec SKM one must take an authorized class from Motec North America West and be approved by Motec to tune these systems.

Stephan Verdier - Rally Cross - EcuTeK & Motec

Rally Cross - Engine Management Tuning

During the initial Global Rally Cross event held at Irwindale Stephan Verdier passed Marcus Grunholm (former WRX rally champion) on the outside in his personal 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI. This vehicle was custom tuned using Motec and tuned by of course William Knose. A little more from Road and Track: http://blog.roadandtrack.com/gronholm-wins-first-global-rallycross-event/

Stephan Verdier - Pikes Peak - EcuTeK

Pikes Peak - Engine Control Unit

Tuning Originally set up as a 2008 Time Attack Subaru Impreza WRX STI, it was slightly adjusted to run Pikes Peak. Along with the great results, we experienced from Kevin Jones Subaru using EcuTeK years earlier the choice to use EcuTeK engine management system software was a solid choice. Slight tuning adjustments at the peak were required to balance the heat from the engine and the power output. Being there is a lot less air at higher altitudes the cooling efficiency drops drastically.

Formula Drift - Engine Control Unit

Tuning Stephan Verdier competed in the Formula Drift series for 3 years and did take a 1st place during his 3 years of competing beating out such names like Tanner Foust and Rhys Millen. This 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX STI was tuned using EcuTeK engine management tuning software and was one of the most reliable vehicles throughout the years of competition.

The Art of Tuning

Dyno tuning is an art no matter what anyone tells you. Each vehicle is unique even off of the showroom floor and they have their differences. Though they may be minor, they are still differences. Small aspects such as production date and the tooling used will create slight differences during the build process; while temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, fuel quality, and the brand of fuel being used will all affect the vehicle when driving. The one key factor that creates the largest difference is the driver behind the wheel.
